Laurel brings a comprehensive perspective of urban design to MAKERS, supported by a range of skillsets in urban planning, cartography, advocacy, and data analysis. She is dedicated to addressing changing community needs to foster sustainable, inclusive built environments, with particular interest in non-motorized transportation development, green building practices, and affordable housing advocacy.
Before MAKERS, Laurel’s studio work at the University of Washington included development of a land capacity analysis for Pacific County, and design of an I-5 freeway lid. Her graduating research focused on urban resilience planning through multidisciplinary collaboration. During her internship with the City of Kirkland Long-Range Planning team, she conducted GIS data analysis and graphics production in support of their Comprehensive Plan work.
