Laura Basile

Architect/ Facility Planner

Laura is passionate about strategic planning that supports sustainable and equitable communities. She spent nearly a decade working for non-profit organizations in environmental and community-based design and brings a depth of experience in site analysis, project management, and collaborative problem solving to MAKERS’ facility planning team. In her previous work, Laura partnered with cities throughout western Washington to develop and implement projects including green stormwater infrastructure, water conservation efforts, urban wetland restoration, and many others.

What’s the most inspiring part of your job? Supporting public agencies in planning for more sustainable, just, and resilient urban environments.

What are you happiest doing when you’re not working? Walking in the woods, relaxing with my husband and senior dog “Granny,” and making things with natural materials.

What’s your favorite book or podcast? The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy, Pilgram at Tinker Creek by Annie Dillard, and Mary Oliver’s poetry.
