Janson Busby

Planner




Janson supports the MAKERS federal planning team from the San Diego office. With a planning and GIS background, Janson’s biggest interest is the relationship of data and technology with the built environment. Janson also has a strong background in zoning and public policy, supporting various projects involving recommendations around land use reform. He has also been involved in several research initiatives involving fluctuations of air cargo in the post pandemic world as well as the change in intercity bus service post deregulation. This work has been presented at the Transportation Research Board and in various other academic platforms.

Get To Know Janson

What’s one thing on your bucket list? I’d love to do a long train journey, perhaps the Trans-Siberian Railway or the Rocky Mountaineer in Canada.

What’s your favorite book or podcast? The Color of Law by Richard Rothstein is a must read for anyone interested in discriminatory housing policies in the United States.

What’s something people are surprised to find out about you? I’ve have traveled pretty extensively. I have lost count, but I have probably been to around 60 countries at this point, and I have hit every continent (except Antarctica, for now).
