Claire Farrington

Planner

Claire joined MAKERS’ Facilities Planning team in the fall of 2022. She is interested in supporting planning and design projects that benefit environmental health and community well-being. Claire’s many interests include open space access, hazard mitigation, and local food systems. Her master’s thesis explored how public green and recreational spaces impact the place attachments of multi-unit dwellers in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood.

As an intern with Seattle Public Utilities’ Solid Waste Division, Claire conducted outreach with local food service businesses to help improve waste diversion programs and promote equitable application of environmental regulations. She has experience supporting local food systems as a food equity intern at an affordable housing nonprofit, campus garden manager at her university, and market staff at several farmers markets in Seattle.
