Andres de Wet

Planner

Andres brings an interdisciplinary, international background to his work as a federal facilities planner. Starting in architectural design, he later transitioned to urban planning and design, public-private partnership management, and landscape and environmental design. Andres grew up in South Africa and moved to Cincinnati, OH mid-career to pursue his Master’s in Community Planning, culminating in a design thesis on transit-oriented, downtown urban revitalization with the City of Toronto. After his post-graduate qualification, Andres worked on a sizeable, mixed-use, transit-oriented project at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam. Since 2018, he has honed his expertise in Seattle, working for built environment non-profits and lecturing at University of Washington Tacoma before joining MAKERS in 2023.

Andres’ passion lies in creating equitable, walkable, and well-connected cities. He advocates for transit- and people-oriented urbanism, holistic placemaking, and the integration of environmental, landscape, and built environment design for climate adaptation and resilience.
