The MAKERS team oversaw a complex visioning process for SPU’s ongoing integrated stormwater and wastewater systems plan. We worked closely with SPU project leads and diverse Seattle communities to lay the foundation for development of a comprehensive, stakeholder-driven plan to guide the next 50 years of equitable and environmentally sound drainage and sewer investments. Our approach brought traditionally underrepresented voices to the forefront, engaged community partners, set the table for innovation with local and national thinkers, and established a framework to align SPU around a vision for infrastructure that will deliver community benefits where investments are most needed.
Outcomes
- Led an innovative approach to co-create with, resource, reduce barriers of participation for, and give voice to community members who historically have not been heard
- Gathered feedback to inform SPU’s future investment priorities and long-term goals
- Supported creation of an equity framework to guide SPU’s long-term integrated drainage and wastewater systems planning
