MAKERS recently promoted Katy Saunders, Beth Batchelder, Rish Ukil, and Alec Finewood.
Katy Saunders, PLA, ASLA • Senior Associate, Urban Design & Community Planning (UDCP) Team
Katy has been with MAKERS since 2015 and is an invaluable member of the UDCP team. As a landscape architect, she leads MAKERS climate adaptation, sustainability, and resiliency work in community planning. She is a wonderful collaborator and project manager, bringing her sharp wit, foresight, and incredible writing and analytical skills to every project.
Outside of the office Katy enjoys spending time with her family outdoors in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
Beth Batchelder • Senior Associate, Facilities Planning Team
Since joining MAKERS in 2017, Beth has been an indispensable member of the facilities planning team. She is valued for her commitment to all aspects of her position – including effective project management, compelling engagement, and patient staff mentorship – and is especially appreciated for her contributions to our office culture.
When not working, Beth enjoys singing in the Seattle Women’s Chorus, fostering animals, and exploring beautiful sights inside and around Seattle.
Rish Ukil, AICP • Senior Associate, Facilities Planning Team
Rish has been with MAKERS since 2017 and quickly established himself as a masterful designer and analyst. Skilled in both the beautiful and functional aspects of his work, his creative designs make the complex simple in visually appealing ways that are precise and to the point. His professional interests lie at the intersection of strategic facilities planning, public policy, and sustainable investments in critical government assets; he was key to the establishment of our fleet electrification planning practice area. Rish serves as co-chair to the APA WA Chapter’s Climate and Sustainability Initiative Committee.
When not working, Rish enjoys spending time with his family and exploring neighborhoods throughout the city.
Alec Finewood • Associate 1, Federal Facilities Planning Team
Alec joined MAKERS in 2023 after completing a Master of Architecture degree at the University of Washington. At MAKERS, Alec has jumped into projects with a willingness to learn and adapt. His recent work includes two projects in California: a resiliency study for Naval Base Coronado (San Diego) and scenario planning for Naval Air Station Lemoore.
Outside of working hours, Alec enjoys cycling, walking his dog Bowie, and spending time with his new wife, family, and friends.
