MAKERS and DKS Associates are currently leading efforts to collaborate with 25 diverse local and regional stakeholders to create a county-wide policy that supports:

  • Increased adoption of electric vehicles among island residents
  • Improved charging infrastructure accessibility for residents and tourists
  • Fleet electrification for local municipalities, port authorities, regional transit agencies, school districts, park authorities, and the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.

This project aims to promote county-wide EV adoption through community engagement and private business outreach; identify strategies to promote charging infrastructure accessibility through activity-based travel demand models, market research, and future ridership forecasting; identify financial incentives that support charger deployment; and research and apply emerging electromobility trends and case studies reviews.

This project is expected to be complete by early 2021.
