Markus joined MAKERS in spring 2022 as an urban designer and community planner, providing graphics and planning support. He is interested in the planning and design of green affordable housing, public transit and nonmotorized transportation, climate infrastructure that leads to decarbonization and electrification, and racial justice and equity. Markus is passionate about creating environments and spaces that allow people to live and thrive.
As a research fellow intern at a local firm, Markus led a research project on encouraging active transportation through intentional design interventions. Additionally, some of his academic work includes studio work with the City of Seattle on ideas for its Comprehensive Plan and work with the Nehemiah Initiative developing housing projects for Black churches in Seattle.
