We supported the City of Sammamish in developing a strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and establish electric vehicle adoption targets to meet their Climate Action Plan goals and community commitments. The team developed alternative scenarios that compare partial, substantial, and total fleet electrification strategies, as well as a dynamic workbook tool that connects MAKERS’ database on electric and alternative fuel vehicles with the City’s database for fleet assets, operating expenses, and City budgets. We also researched EV adoption trends, demographics, and licensing data to analyze use of public charging stations on City-owned facilities.
Outcomes
- Prepared a phased investment plan for fleet acquisition, charging infrastructure, and operational expenses at four City facilities
- Developed a plan to support the City’s plans to reduce 50% of its greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and 96% by 2050
- Identified strategies for fleet and equipment replacement as well as the necessary charging structure to support public EV adoption
