Born and raised in Yantai, a beautiful seaside city of Shandong Peninsula in Eastern China, Yifan has great emotional connections with the sea and harbor. He started his career as an architecture student and designer in China, then studied and practiced in Canada and Germany, during which time he built up strong interdisciplinary and multicultural interests in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design and planning within built environments. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a master’s degree in urban design, where he was trained with solid knowledge and skills in environmental research and design. Before he came to the United States, he earned a master’s degree in architecture from Southeast University and a bachelor’s degree in architecture from China University of Mining and Technology.
At MAKERS, he supports multiple teams and projects as a designer. Outside of work, you can find Yifan on tennis courts and at seafronts and parks, where he enjoys sports, exploring the city and photographing nature and piloting his drone.
