The new Swift Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service on Everett and Snohomish County’s Evergreen Way/Highway 99 offers substantial opportunities for increased economic activity, redevelopment on the corridor, and a “linear community” with reduced GHG emissions. Based on stakeholder interviews; public walkabouts, workshops, and survey; Advisory Committee input; and City and County staff expertise, MAKERS developed a plan and design standards to:
- Improve the performance of the corridor as an economic engine.
- Enhance the livability of the abutting neighborhoods.
- Improve walkability, pedestrian comfort and safety, and aesthetics of the corridor.
- Maximize the potential for redevelopment created by BRT service.
