Duvall Citywide Visioning Plan

MAKERS worked with the City of Duvall to develop a long-range plan that embodies the community’s vision for this burgeoning small town. A major success of the planning process was the positive response to public outreach.

Seattle Parks Historic Resources Plan

MAKERS teamed with Susan Black and Cathy Wickwire to develop this APA Honor Award-winning plan. The plan examined Seattle’s park history, identified historic periods of influence, and made recommendations for management of these public gems.

Wenatchee Waterfront Subarea Plan

In an ambitious effort to revitalize Wenatchee’s riverfront area, this award-winning plan defines three develoment nodes that integrate a mix of commercial, residential, and recreational usess with existing industrial activities. Linking the nodes is an improved circulation spine connecting the riverfront to the larger community. Key components of the plan, adopted in 2003, have already been implemented.

Downtown Burien Plan

MAKERS’ plan promotes new commercial and residential development designed to transform downtown Burien into an attractive and viable place to work, shop, and live.

Everett Downtown Plan

The City of Everett’s plan includes a number of innovations to help this regional growth center redevelop in a smart, sustainable manner. Plan highlights include zoning bonus incentives for historic preservation, LEED certification, and the elimination of minimum parking requirements.

SeaTac Action Plans

The airport Station Area Action Plan and South 154th Station Area Action Plan encourage redevelopment around Sound Transit’s LINK Light Rail stations to accommodate a healthy mix of commercial, residential, and civic uses.

Chelan Downtown Code

Partners Bob Bengford and John Owen created a form-based code in conjunction with the City of Chelan’s Downtown Master Plan vision. The code is heavily illustrated, and provides the right balance of specifity and flexibility for Chelan.

Everett Residential Development Standards & Design Guidelines

MAKERS delivered design standards that ensure high quality and attractive new development. The plan also redefines acceptable types of residential zoning. The Smart Communities Award goes to public and private parties who create livable communities and successfully implement the Growth Management Act.

Washington Army National Guard Comprehensive Stationing and Facility Plan

MAKERS received a Medal of Excellence for the preparation of the Washington Army National Guard Comprehensive Stationing and Facility Plan.

Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Activity Overview Plan

MAKERS received a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of exemplary performance in the fulfillment of a Naval Facilities Engineering Command contract for the Activity Overview Plan (AOP) for Naval Air Station, Whidbey Island.

Port of Anacortes Comprehensive Plan Update

The Port presented MAKERS (with a special gold star for partner Julie Bassuk) with an award for successfully including over 150 community members in the development of their Comprehensive Plan Update. The Port uses the plan as an example of effective comprehensive planning.
