Installation-level planning departments often lack the time and resources to thoroughly evaluate all man-made, natural, and operational variables when determining the “fitness” of potential development sites. While necessary data typically exist, there is no single analytical tool to enable effective and consolidated decision-making. The Site Simulation System (S3) has the potential to fill that void by providing a user-friendly application that identifies risks and compares alternatives to minimize project costs and avoid long term impacts on base-wide functionality. Leading a multidisciplinary team, MAKERS developed a preliminary concept that can be used to build a fully functional S3 program.
