Following some previous work completed providing streetscape guidance on Broadway Street in Capitol Hill, Seattle, MAKERS was hired to develop wayfinding maps for both the First Hill and South Lake Union lines of the Seattle Streetcar system. The maps are intended to orient streetcar users to important landmarks within walking distance of 18 stops within the system. An additional version of the map was also created for each stop in order to accommodate the display of sponsors in the future. An extensive public outreach process was conducted by the program manager at SDOT, in order to ensure the accuracy and relevance of map data, and to ensure the wayfinding maps reflected what the neighborhood saw as important neighborhood resources. This public input was incorporated into the map through multiple map iterations, and the resulting product has helped to create a distinct and cohesive identity for the streetcar system.
