MAKERS led a team of planners and scientists in the preparation of a new Shoreline Master Program (SMP) for the City of Marysville. Key issues included standards for mixed-use development on the old industrial riverfront, planning and measures that promote the restoration of the diked Qwuloolt site, public access requirements for a regional trail, special protections along the steeply channeled Quilceda Creek, and all of the new provisions necessary to meet Department of Ecology requirements. The project included environmental inventory and analysis (prepared by the Watershed Company), incorporated the City’s critical areas ordinance, and facilitated a proposed salt marsh creation project. As part of the project, the consultant team prepared an environmental restoration plan, submittal checklist, consistency report, justification for environmental designations, and a cumulative impact analysis.
