Facility Planner/Urban Designer (Seattle, WA)

MAKERS’ federal planning team has an opportunity in our Seattle office for an architect or landscape architecture designer to join our military facility planning team. Candidates will participate in stakeholder interviews; existing conditions documentation and analysis; facility and space needs development; alternative development and scenario evaluation; campus master planning; and urban design with an emphasis on production of high quality graphics, documents, and presentations.

Primary Responsibilities

Background experience or degree in architecture or landscape architecture is preferred. All candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills.  Candidate will be responsible for data/information organization and presentation, concept generation, graphic illustrations (diagrams, facility layout plans, site plans, etc.) graphic design of reports/studies and presentation materials, written content, and document production.

We are seeking a team member who has the abilities to:

  • Clearly communicate ideas and concepts
  • Effectively design at a planning-level
  • Research and analyze issues and alternatives
  • Efficiently work on multiple projects at one time in a fast paced, team-oriented environment

Requirements

Periodic travel may be required. High level of proficiency with MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS is required for this position. Experience with Rhino 3D Modeler and Maxwell Rendering Software is preferred.

1-2 years of experience preferred. Entry level candidates that can demonstrate a strong understanding of practices typical of a professional design office will also be considered. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Federal Facility Planner (San Diego)

MAKERS’ federal planning team has an opportunity in our San Diego office for a planner with military planning experience including facility master plans, project development studies, design guidelines, strategic plans, and asset management.

Primary Responsibilities

The candidate will:

  • Maintain effective working relationships with the military planning team.
  • Typically receive instruction from and work under the direction of a senior level planner and/or project manager.
  • Compile and analyze data involved in decision-making process; conduct technical research; interpret and apply policies and guidance; organize, prioritize, and independently perform work assignments on multiple projects.
  • Prepare narrative reports and supporting graphics to convey complex information in a clear, concise, and positive manner as well as prepare visual aids and make public presentations in a competent and professional manner.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with an understanding of project timelines and deadlines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite is required. AutoCAD and GIS experience is desired.
  • Demonstrated experience with DoD military planning of 3 years including facility requirements development and analysis, asset evaluations, master planning, and DD form 1391 preferred.
  • Valid US driver’s license
  • Have or be able to obtain security clearance
  • Ability to travel
