What We Do
MAKERS has a reputation for creative and practical planning and design solutions, great customer service, and happy clients.
Waterfront & Shoreline Management
MAKERS’ feasibility analyses, strategic development and master plans, public access plans, and shoreline master programs have helped shape many waterfronts in the Pacific Northwest. Our plans do more than describe options; they are designed to position projects for future implementation. MAKERS’ projects balance the operational and functional needs of our clients while satisfying shoreline and growth management regulations in a thoughtful way.
Additionally, MAKERS has worked with the Shoreline Management Act at the state and local level in a number of capacities, including preparing WAC rules, guidebooks, and special reports for the Department of Ecology, preparing local Shoreline Master Program amendments and special shoreline management studies, and resolving shoreline management issues on specific waterfront projects. The firm has completed award-winning work in all three categories.
MAKERS has prepared master program provisions and management recommendations in marine, lake, and riverine environments and has worked at all scales, from region-wide to site-specific. The firm’s shoreline management work augments and is supported by its capabilities in port and waterfront development, environmental management, and comprehensive planning.
